NRLW The Players: Lily Rogan

Centre Lily Rogan is still settling into life at Wests Tigers, but she’s already making an impact in her first season at the club.

The 21-year-old has featured in both of Wests Tigers’ opening matches of the 2025 NRLW campaign and is embracing the opportunity to build consistency in her preferred position.

“I’m definitely looking at locking myself into the centres,” Rogan said.

“I’ve played there now for two seasons and I feel most comfortable there. I think that’s where I can bring my strengths into a team.

“Obviously I’m a team-first person, so if the coach needs me somewhere else I’ll take that as a challenge.

“But I definitely want to establish myself as a centre; it’s a really competitive spot.”

Originally from the NSW South Coast, Rogan was introduced to rugby league at Ulladulla High School before joining the Illawarra Steelers pathways system.

She later captained the Steelers’ Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team to a title in 2024, also earning Player of the Year honours in her debut season for the clubin 2023.

She also made her NRLW debut with the Sydney Roosters in 2023, describing that experience as a major turning point in her career.

“At the Roosters, I had some great role models.

“I had Izzy Kelly there to watch and learn from; especially in a position that’s still relatively new to me.

“I took so much out of that experience and it helped me a lot as a player, and also as a person and a leader.

“Now I’m excited to find my own feet and make my mark.”

While Rogan has her sights set on long-term representative honours, her focus at the moment is much more immediate.

“I want to fight for my position and play consistent footy week in, week out. I’ve already learned so much just being around the girls and the new coaches.

“Long-term, I want to be a competitive player and hopefully some rep honours come with that.

“But right now, it’s just about winning each game and earning my place.”

A strong defender who prides herself on effort areas, Rogan describes herself as a player who’s always willing to put in the hard work.

“I like to have the tough carries and I really do like a defensive challenge. Defence is something I want to be known for.

But mostly, I just want to be someone who works hard for the girl next to me.

For Rogan, that drive to succeed is deeply personal.

“My dad sacrificed a lot when we were growing up; travelling long distances for training and games. I want to show him it wasn’t for nothing.

“And also for myself - I’m competitive, and if I’m going to do something I want to be the best I can be.”
