Match Report: Jersey Flegg Round 24 vs Rabbitohs

Wests Tigers have stormed home with a 42-6 victory over South Sydney in Round 24 of the Jersey Flegg Cup at Lidcombe Oval.

The Tigers started hot, with Max Taotua crossing in just the 2nd minute after Iverson Matai created space with a classy offload.

Three minutes later, Taotua grabbed his second thanks to a spectacular bomb take and flick pass from Tino Tavana, in what will go down as one of the tries of the season.

Souths hit back through hooker Riley Frame in the 11th minute, with Charlie Poynton converting to cut the margin to two.

But the Tigers steadied late in the half, as halfback Max Liles sliced through the line in the 27th minute to score under the posts.

Wests Tigers led 14-6 at the break.

The second half belonged entirely to the home side.

Taotua completed his hat-trick in the 44th minute off a Matai short ball, before Josh Feledy finished a slick backline movement for a 48th-minute try.

From there, the Tigers went on with the job.

Solomone Saukuru bulldozed his way through before offloading for Liles to grab his second, Lenny Plati powered over soon after, and captain Brenden Naicori forced an error in the 77th minute that led to Feledy racing 75 metres for his second.

It capped off a dominant showing from Wests Tigers, who piled on 28 unanswered points in the second half to secure a statement win heading into the final rounds.

Wests Tigers 42 (Ma. Taotua 3, Liles 2, Feledy 2, Plati tries; Tavana 5/8 goals) defeated Rabbitohs (Frame try; Poynton 1/1 goal) at Lidcombe Oval.
