Match Report: NRL Round 24 vs Sea Eagles

Wests Tigers have produced a clinical 26-12 win over Manly in Round 24’s Gadhu Gathering clash at Allianz Stadium.

Tolu Koula’s opening-minute try and Matt Lodge’s 78th-minute effort were the only blemishes on a near-perfect performance from the men in orange, white and black.

Koula produced an outstanding run to the line in the first set of the match to get Manly on the board, however, the remainder of the first half ran largely in favour of Wests Tigers.

Adam Doueihi crossed in the 10th minute off the back of some quality offloading from Terrell May and Jahream Bula, before Jeral Skelton scored in the 32nd minute.

The right winger’s four-pointer came after a slick right-side shift through Doueihi and Starford To’a in which he just managed to plant the ball in the corner.

Doueihi’s two-from-two conversions and Daly Cherry-Evans’ late field goal miss meant the Tigers led 12-6 at the break and they were first to post points in the second half too.

Sunia Turuva powered through to score his 11th try of the season in the 53rd minute to send the home crowd into raptures.

From there, a silky short ball from Jarome Luai sent Taylan May steaming straight through the Manly defence for a spectacular long-range try.

Matt Lodge crashed over for a late consolation try in the 78th minute, however it was the Tigers’ afternoon at Allianz Stadium, as they emerged 26-12 victors at the Gadhu Gathering.

Wests Tigers 26 (Doueihi, Skelton, Turuva, Ta. May tries; Doueihi 5/5 goals) defeated Sea Eagles 12 (Koula, Lodge tries; Garrick 1/1 goal, Cherry-Evans 1/1 goal) at Allianz Stadium.
