Brett Kimmorley to step down as NRLW Head Coach

The Wests Tigers can confirm that NRLW Head Coach, Brett Kimmorley will step away from his role at the conclusion of the 2025 NRLW season.

Kimmorley - the club’s inaugural NRLW Head Coach - was appointed in 2023, overseeing the Wests Tigers elite women’s program and contributing to the growth and development of the pathways that now support it.

With his current deal set to expire at season’s end, the former NSW and Kangaroos half has made the decision not to seek an extension beyond his current contract.

Kimmorley will see out the Wests Tigers final two regular season fixtures against Parramatta and the Warriors.

Throughout his time at the helm, Kimmorley has overseen the introduction of 50 players into the Wests Tigers NRLW program, handing deserved professional debuts to a number of players from within the club’s pathway.

Kimmorley said while it was a difficult decision to not continue in his role, he felt the time was right to step away.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with this group and contributing to the establishment of this program at the Wests Tigers and am grateful to Richo and the Board for their support,” Kimmorley said.

“I think this is the right time for me to step aside and give someone the opportunity to lead this fantastic group into the 2026 season and beyond.”

Kimmorley thanked the playing group for their commitment during a challenging year.

“We’ve had just about everything thrown at us this year, it’s been challenging for the playing group and staff, but their commitment has never wavered,” Kimmorley said.

“To keep turning up as we have is a credit to everyone and I’m proud of the growth we’ve seen right across this squad this season. It’s an exciting time for the program with some outstanding young players coming through and I look forward to seeing how they continue to progress,” concluded Kimmorley.

Wests Tigers CEO, Shane Richardson thanked Kimmorley for his contribution to the establishment of the club’s NRLW program.

“We’re thankful to Brett for the work he’s done in building our NRLW program,” said Richardson.

“Brett’s a fantastic person who brought great knowledge and experience into the role, he’s been a pleasure to work with right across the organisation.

“As our inaugural NRLW Head Coach, he holds an important place in the club’s history and we’re grateful for the work he’s done in laying the foundations for the program and pathways that will take the club forward,” concluded Richardson.

The Wests Tigers will shortly begin a recruitment process to appoint a Head Coach for the 2026 NRLW season.
