Wests Tigers Pathways Wrap: Tarsha Gale and Lisa Fiaola sides make Finals

There was a range of results across Wests Tigers Pathways system over the weekend, with our Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale sides confirming their spot in the finals, both finishing 8th on their respective ladders.

The Western Suburbs Magpies also earned their first win of the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup season, while our SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews campaigns came to a close.

Western Suburbs Magpies vs Parramatta Eels: 30-24 win

It was an exciting Round 5 clash on Easter Monday between the Magpies and Eels, with Western Suburbs taking home the chocolates.

Parramatta opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, with the Magpies responding soon after. Jack Attard spread the ball wide to Fiohiva Fainga’a on the right edge, improving his position for Javon Andrews’ conversion to bring the scores level.

The Magpies extended their lead through an Andrew’s dummy, crashing through two Eels defenders, extending the lead to 10-6.

A moment of Patrick Herbert brilliance in the 28th minute saw him make a 25-metre breakaway run before grubbering ahead for Solomone Saukuru, who finished with a try on the left edge to extend the lead to 14-6.

Parramatta responded with two tries before half-time, leaving things locked up at 14-14.

In the 43rd minute, another try on the left edge for Saukuru was converted out wide by Javon Andrews, putting the Magpies ahead 20-14.

Eels returned the favour, bringing the score level 20-20.

Tony Sukkar crossed to put Western Suburbs back in front, before Attard added another under the posts, pushing the lead out to 30-20.

A late try from Parramatta was not enough, with the Magpies securing their first win of the NSW Cup season.
