Western Suburbs Magpies will be chasing four straight victories in The Knock On Effect NSW Cup at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday.
The Magpies (seventh) tackle the Warriors (10th) at 1.30pm in the round 19 clash at their home ground.
Western Suburbs head into the round 19 clash in terrific form following another strong performance in beating the Dragons 42-8 last Sunday after coming off a bye.
The Magpies ran in seven tries to two with talented young half-back Javon Andrews finishing the game with a personal haul of 18 points through a try and seven goals.
NSW Cup Coach Tyrone McCarthy was impressed with the way his players started the game with strong defence and doing the hard stuff early.
“They have really connected as a team and are showing great care for our defence compared to earlier in the season when we were conceding some easy tries,’’ McCarthy said.
“Heath Mason’s efforts kind of replicate what we have been talking about in terms of last-ditch effort. We were up by 30 points and he's still putting try saving tackles in.
“We’re fortunate to have some talented players who are buying into the tough stuff, so they can play off the back of it.
“(Forward) Luke Jack was put in at nine at the last minute due to injury. It’s a tough position to play hooker, but he did very well.
“Jared Haywood then came off the bench and blew them away with his running game.”
Western Suburbs are now focused on avenging their 29-28 loss to the Warriors in a thriller at Go Media Stadium, Auckland, in round four.
“They can hurt you quickly. The Warriors have two strong halves so we're expecting a physical battle,'' McCarthy said.
“We’re not fearful of any team. We're confident in what we’re doing.
“It's just about making sure that we stay on track and understand why we’re doing well.
“The boys are training hard, applying themselves, doing their extras, and because of that, they're now getting the rewards.”
