Wests Tigers proud to celebrate Women in League Round

Wests Tigers is proud to celebrate the incredible role females play in the club as part of the NRL's Women in League Round this weekend.

Women in League Round was established in 2007 as part of an initiative by the NRL to recognise and celebrate the vital role women play in rugby league, both on and off the field.

This weekend marks the 20th year of Harvey Norman Women in League Round, where the game celebrates two decades of progress, passion and achievement.

The round highlights contributions from elite athletes, coaches, volunteers, administrators, wellbeing officers, and operational staff, emphasizing the broad impact women have on the sport

To help celebrate Women in League Round, Wests Tigers have highlighted two incredible women in Charmain Steventon and Mia Iorfino, who have made a significant impact at the club in their various leadership roles.

At Wests Tigers, 44% of the club's staff are women, exceeding the club average of 39.4%. Females also make up 30% of the Wests Tigers Board and 33% on the  Executive Team.

Charmain Steventon - Head of Women’s Football

Charmain is no stranger to elite performance environments, having carved out an impressive rugby career that saw her represent Australia at the highest level.

Since joining Wests Tigers, she led the club’s people strategy as Head of People & Culture, where her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the club’s values-driven culture.

As Head of Women’s Football, Charmain drives all aspects of the club’s female football operations, ensuring a holistic approach to performance, wellbeing, and development for Wests Tigers’ female athletes.

“I’m passionate about creating a high-performance environment where our athletes can thrive in all aspects of their lives, and where Wests Tigers are recognised as a leading destination for elite women’s rugby league talent,’’ Steventon said.

Charmain also brings over 20 years of corporate leadership experience to the club.

Mia Iorfino - Wests Tigers Head of Digital

An 18-month journey, Mia led the Club’s Digital Content Team in a complete transformation of the way in which the Wests Tigers engaged with fans on one of its most powerful channels.

This significant body of work, and its resounding impact, was praised by Sarah Wymer, Senior Lecturer at Auckland University of Technology, who has more than 20 years industry experience in sports marketing, digital media and fan engagement.

In praising the Wests Tigers Instagram account, Wymer said the strategic shift “reflected, supports, and accelerates a broader club rebuild”.
