Despite conceding the first try of the game inside five minutes, Wests Tigers hit back with tries to Pat Richards, James Tedesco, Bodene Thompson and a double to Tim Simona to emerge with a 25-16 victory over their highly-fancied opponents.
The game was Simona’s first appearance for the club since offseason surgery.

Captain Robbie Farah led all players on the night in total metres gained (164m) and tackles made (39), with Wests Tigers forward Aaron Woods also delivering a strong performance on the ground (152m and 30 tackles) against a strong Souths pack.
The match also marked Adam Blair’s 50th NRL appearance for the Club.
Tedesco was awarded his second consecutive man-of-the-match award.
