Having played with him previously at Penrith, Wests Tigers forward Tim Grant is confident new recruit Jamal Idris will reach his best at the Club in season 2017.

Returning for pre-season training today alongside former teammate Idris, Grant said the signing was a positive move for the Club after narrowly missing the top eight in 2016.

"When JT was speaking about Jamal coming to the Club, I was pretty excited," he said.

"I think it's a great prospect for Jamal and also for Jamal. I think he'll fit well here.

"I couldn't speak highly enough of him.

"I don't see how having him here is a risk. What he did [in stepping away] was being honest to himself and where he was in the game, and I haven't seen him this happy for a long time."

See what Tim had to say in full about being back at training in the video above!
