Match Report: Round 3 Harvey Norman Women's Premiership

Wests Tigers suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday going down 34-6 to the Bears at North Sydney Oval in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership.

The home side got off to a great start and ran in five tries in the first half, setting up an unassailable 26-6 lead at the break.

It wasn’t the dream debut Jess Sergis had hoped for playing her first game for the club at fullback, having recovered from an ankle injury.

Also on debut for the club in what was her first appearance in the competition was middle forward Maluloa Fakaua, who trained hard in the off season following a knee injury.

To their credit the visitors muscled up in the second half conceding just the one try but the damage had already been done. Coach Brett Kimmorley admits his team was beaten by a more determined side.

We were beaten by a team that played better and were far more physical than us. They fully deserved the win and congratulations to them."

Coach Brett Kimmorley

Both of our debutantes (Jess) and (Loa) tried really hard which is all I can ask for."

We’ll regroup and start preparing for our next match against Mounties in a double-header at Leichhardt in a couple of weeks."
