It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at Campbelltown Hospital after a well-received visit by Wests Tigers players Joe Ofahengaue and Alex Seyfarth.

Both players had a spring in their step on the first day of summer as they kicked off the club’s annual Christmas Toy Drive, which will also include visits to Liverpool and Bowral hospitals.

Each looked totally at ease handing out presents to children and newborns in the paediatric and maternity wards, and it seems that fatherhood is common bond.

Ofahengaue is a soon to be father of three, with wife Sophie expecting their third child in February.  Being a dad is new territory, however, for Seyfarth whose long-term partner Rebecca is expecting their first child in April.

It’s been a busy few months for the Dundas Shamrocks junior, who is now fully recovered after a serious injury late last season.

“The pec tear is all good now after intense rehab over the off-season,” Seyfarth said.

“I’ll be right for the start of the season and can’t wait to rip in.

Being a father is all new to me, but it was sweet spending time with these kids here today.

“I got a little bit of practice today with Joffa showing me how to hold a baby correctly, and I’m really excited about becoming a dad.”

Ofahengaue was quick to put his hand up to be a part of the Christmas Toy Drive.

“It’s really rewarding coming here and seeing all these smiles,” he said.

It means a lot to the children, and it means a lot to us as well."

Last year’s Player of the Year is looking forward to playing in a new-look pack next season, which will include new signings Isaiah Papali’i, David Klemmer, and Api Koroisau.

Alex Twal is also ready to return after a serious head knock last season, as is Shawn Blore, who missed the entire 2022 campaign.

“A lot about next season is new and we have a lot to look forward to,” said Ofahengaue.

“There’s a lot of bounce around training and it’s been fun. Hard work, but fun.

“Big Klem’s (Klemmer) been an enforcer in the game for years and I can’t wait to play with him.

“We’ve got a lot of ground to make up after last season and we’re all working hard to get to where we need to be in pre-season.”
