Match Report: Jersey Flegg Round 15 vs Sea Eagles

Wests Tigers suffered a tough 36-16 loss in the Jersey Flegg Cup on Friday night, with Manly proving too strong at 4 Pines Park.

The Sea Eagles were boosted by the inclusion of Latu Fainu for this clash, and the teenage sensation made his presence felt early, scoring the first try of the night.

Manly made it 10-0 after just six minutes through Max Hayley, however the away side hit back through talented local junior Jay Kirk.

The winger, who came through the Western Suburbs system, now has seven tries for the season.

Daniel O’Donnell and Kylan Mafoa replied with four-pointers to make it a 22-6 Manly lead at the break.

Wests Tigers were first to score in the second stanza, with 2023 NRL debutant Brandon Tumeth crossing for the visitors’ second.

Fainu and O’Donnell bagged their doubles late in the game, before Josh Feledy continued his recent try-scoring streak.

The damaging centre has now scored in five consecutive games and has collected a total of nine tries for the season since his elevation to Jersey Flegg from Balmain’s SG Ball Cup side.

Livai Saukuru’s late conversion made the final score 36-16, with Manly emerging victorious.
