Pathways Preview: Round 2

Wests Tigers pathways teams are preparing for a super Saturday with ten games in total, five of which are back-to-back at Leichhardt Oval.

After having the bye in Round 1 Wests Harold Matthews team will play its first game of the season against Melbourne Storm, as one of four games in Camden.

Our two Macarthur Wests Tigers teams will kick things off against the North Coast Bulldogs, following victories in both the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cup competitions last weekend.

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg team will also play at Kirkham Oval, in a trial match against the Storm.

Loads of footy to look forward to at Leichhardt Oval with five games back-to-back against the Sydney Roosters.

First up will be Wests Tigers female teams competing in the Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale Cup competitions, followed by Balmain Tigers in the Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup, with a Balmain Development team rounding off the day’s action in Lilyfield.

After a 'scrappy' win in Round 1 against the Sea Eagles, Wests SG Ball team is off to Melbourne on Saturday to face the Storm.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (U17s) – Wests Tigers

Coach – Scott Clark

With our first game behind us the Lisa Fiaola players will have a better understanding in dealing with the game day experience.

The team’s focus this week at training has been on us and concentrating on game awareness and anticipation.

The players have really stepped up another level at training and the goal in this week’s game will be to improve our completion rate and build on our structures in both defence and attack.

Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s) – Wests Tigers

Coach – Adel Hage

After a good performance in Round 1 we’re looking forward to taking on the defending champions and competition favourites. The players know we have many more levels to improve on and the confidence in the group is very high. It will be a great test against a good Roosters team. Good to be back at Leichhardt this week as well.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) – Balmain Tigers

Coach – Tony Bazouni

Round 2 this week sees us for the first time this season at our home ground of Leichhardt Oval. It's a vital game for both clubs as the Roosters are also coming off a first-round loss and no teams wants to start the season zero from two.

We will need to stay disciplined with the ball and get our completions high to put ourselves in a position to get two competition points on Saturday.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) – Balmain Tigers

Coach – Chris Yates

The boys are looking forward to returning to Leichhardt Oval this week to face the Roosters. And a big congrats to Cooper Petterson who debuts this week for the Balmain Tigers

Andrew Johns Cup (U/16s) – Macarthur Wests Tigers

Coach – Harrison Fox

This week we are up against a quality North Coast Bulldogs team who are coming off a big win against the Northern Tigers.

Our focus leading into this weekend is putting forward a complete performance and playing our style of football. The boys have trained well this week and will be ready for a tough encounter on Saturday.

Laurie Daley Cup (U/18s) – Macarthur Wests Tigers

Coach – Mitch Tyler

The boys are really excited after a tough win in Round 1. Riley Oitmann is back from injury and looking forward to stamping his authority on the game, while Lucas Rossi and Kimbal Liufau are excited and ready to bring power up front.

North Coast Bulldogs will be tough and extra hungry after losing in Round 1. If we continue to work hard during the week our boys are confident of putting in another strong performance.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) – Western Suburbs Magpies

Coach – Stephen Isdale

Exciting time for the boys after having the bye in Round 1, The players are itching to play some footy after a big pre-season and we are coming up against a big Storm pack.

I'm looking forward to seeing our middles lead from the front. If they can do their job then that will allow the likes of Alex Isdale and Onitoni Large to direct the ship and build pressure.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) – Western Suburbs Magpies

Coach – Joey Saukuru

Round 2 finds us travelling to Melbourne to take on the Storm who are coming off a strong win against North Sydney.  This is shaping up as a very tough game following our scrappy first round win over Manly.
