Christian Pio extends stay with Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Christian Pio has extended her stay with Wests Tigers for a further two seasons.

The Samoan international prop will remain with the club until the end of the 2027 season.

WT Player Number #10, Christian has been a standout for the club since joining Wests Tigers ahead of their inaugural season in the NRLW competition.

Pio is one of the most consistent front-rowers in the league, averaging over 100m per game and producing 13 offloads in nine games throughout last season.

A hard-working middle forward, Christian also made 271 tackles in 2024.

Along with her Samoan Test duties, Pio has also represented the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII on two occasions.

Possessing a keen passion for growing the game, Christian has also recently joined the club’s Community Engagement team, working with Wests Tigers Empower in supporting the community through rugby league.

The 24-year-old is delighted to have re-signed with the club.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons with Wests Tigers and am excited that I’ll be staying on here,” Pio says.

“I’ve become so close with all the girls and our bond is really important to me.

“Working with Wests Tigers Empower in the Community space is also such an amazing opportunity, and one I can’t wait to get further into.

We’re really building towards something special with this group and I’m looking forward to continuing that in the new season.

NRLW Head Coach Brett Kimmorley is pleased that one of the mainstays of his side will remain with Wests Tigers.

“Christian is a really important part of our squad and it’s really pleasing to have her extend her stay with the squad,” Kimmorley says.

“She’s a tough and hard-working front-rower and at 24-years-old, we see her game developing even further in the years to come.

The NRLW season kicks off in July, with an away match against the Broncos first up for Wests Tigers in Round 1.
