Wests Tigers NRLW players Raecene McGregor and Shaniece Monschau have been named in the New Zealand squad for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
Their selection follows an impressive campaign with the Club, in which they helped the Tigers reach their maiden NRLW finals series.
McGregor returns as the Kiwi Fern’s co-captain after a standout season that saw her claim the Dally M Halfback of the Year and Wests Tigers Player of the Year awards.
Wearing the Tigers’ No. 7 jersey in all 12 matches, McGregor recorded three tries and 11 assists throughout the campaign.
A three-time NRLW Premiership winner, twice with the Broncos and once with the Roosters, McGregor brings a wealth of experience to the New Zealand squad.
Monschau earned her selection after a strong second NRLW season, averaging 87 metres, recording 12 tackle breaks, and scoring two tries.
Able to play across the forward pack, the 24-year-old from West Auckland brings consistency and versatility to a strong New Zealand squad.
NRLW Head Coach Craig Sandercock was excited by the news of the players’ selection for their country.
“I’m really proud of them for making the Kiwi Ferns side,” Sandercock said.
“I think Rae was in career-best form this year. Her game management, ability to execute the game plan, and the options she took were first-class, and that’s reflected in her great performances.
“Shaniece has gone from being a player many people didn’t know to becoming a key cornerstone of our team in every sense of the word. She sets a great example with how hard she trains and how her attitude continues to improve.”
The Kiwi Ferns’ World Cup campaign commences on Sunday 18 October, kicking off at 1.50pm against the Fiji Bulikula at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.
