Wests Tigers have confirmed the 2015 NYC Holden Cup squad for the upcoming season under new Head Coach Brett Kimmorley.

Once again the Club is set to field a strong team, with familiar faces from the 2014 squad returning for a second season in the likes of Watson Heleta, Tyler Cassel, Eli Levido, Jeremy Marshall-King, Te Maire Martin, Matthew WoodsHala Masila and John Tohi.

Exciting centre Marion Seve is also back on deck after missing the majority of last year with a shoulder injury; while fellow second year players Jayden WheelhouseHayden Johnston, Sione Alofi, Jacob Follent, Peter Ta’ausoDwayne Lemafa, Tom Satterthwaite, Jamian Iroa and Thomas Grealy will be eager to secure a place in the starting side this season.

Another batch of exciting Keebra Park students have made their way to Concord Oval -  including JJ Felise, Tiawharangi Aranui, Te Kapua Murray and Ryland Jacobs.

Other new players to look out for include Australian Schoolboy representative Jacob Liddle, Bayley Sironen (younger brother of Curtis), Wests SG Ball forward Mark McCormack, NSW CCC players Jack Wheelhouse and Junior Tatola amongst others.

Kimmorley, who played 307 NRL games over a 16-year career, has been impressed by the talent within the 2015 squad after spending the last few months training the team.

“I think it’s quite a good squad that has been put together,” he said. “Some exciting players have come down from Keebra Park and nearly half the squad have played some NYC already.”

“It’s important to have that good understanding, some of them have tasted NYC and know what it is about; so that has helped us to have a really good pre-season so far.”

“They are all contending for spots and it’s a strong 40-man squad so it’s going to be very competitive.”

Trial matches will kick-off for the NYC team on February 6 in Camden when they take on the Parramatta Eels.

The 2015 NYC season officially gets underway on March 7 against the Gold Coast Titans, with Wests Tigers aiming for a fifth consecutive appearance in the Holden Cup finals series.
