Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach Jason Taylor has praised the work ethic of Kevin Naiqama, who the Club recently announced has signed to a two-year contract extension that will keep at the joint venture until the end of the 2017 season.

After joining Wests Tigers around the same time that Naiqama made his off-season move to the Club from the Penrith Panthers, Taylor said that the new deal was a great reward for Naiqama’s commitment to training and his professional attitude since arriving at the Club.

“I’m really excited to have Kev commit to the Club for a longer period,” he said.

“He’s been really great for us this season since the moment he arrived..."

“His pre-season was an absolute stand-out.

"The way he trained day after day, it was clear that he was commited to what we're doing.

“Kev has worked hard in training and his performance have been as good as anyone.”

“Personally, he is certainly easy to get along with and he’s not hard to work [with] at all in terms of coaching,” Taylor said. “Kev is a great guy to have around the Club — he just turns up and he does everything to the best of his ability every single day.

“That’s the standard that we want everyone to set at Wests Tigers and he has been a real leader in that regard..." - Taylor on Naiqama

Since joining Wests Tigers, Naiqama has represented the Club at the Auckland Nines, where his strong defence and sharp footwork shone through. He scored two tries in the Club’s NRL trial against the Parramatta Eels, before scoring tries in the Club’s Round 2 win over the Dragons and Round 5 win over the Parramatta Eels earlier this year.
