Wests Tigers Results: Round 21

Wests Tigers kept their finals hopes alive on Friday night with a gritty 25-16 win over the Newcastle Knights in the club's headline performance for Round 21.

Ivan Cleary's side were seemingly on track to post a comfortable win over the Knights when Corey Thompson touched down with the score already at 22-4, but after being denied by the Bunker, the momentum turned and Newcastle roared back in to the contest with a flurry of late points.

A late field goal from Luke Brooks proved to be dagger blow Wests Tigers needed, though, with a penalty goal on the siren from Esan Marsters sounded giving the side their third win from their last four games.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing afternoon on Sunday as the club's Jersey Flegg and Intrust Super Premiership side, Western Suburbs Magpies, both suffered heavy defeats to the Penrith Panthers.

Wests Tigers Physical Disability Rugby League team did ensure there would be more success for the club, however, with a 16-14 win over the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles to book their spot in the Grand Final.

They will face the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Sunday, August 19.
